Homebrew SeriesInspired by the song from The Doors, "Wishful Sinful" is a chocolaty American brown ale, whose roasted maltiness blends smoothly with flavours of cocoa, and the earthy notes and smooth bitterness of its hops.

Already my second all-grain beer, this was an opportunity for me to try out something new by mixing in some ingredients which I had never thought would ever go into making a beer. After trying out a brown ale in a local craft beer pub, I had my heart set on this style for my next batch but wondered how I could tweak it in some way that would make it more personal. That’s how I decided to add a little extra something to the mix and went with the cocoa nibs just to see what the result would be like. I was expecting for the chocolate flavours in the nibs to pair nicely with the malty, roasted base of the beer and I was not wrong. With some time in the bottle for the taste to balance out, this ended up a very drinkable and tasty beer, even though maybe a bit roaster than I was expecting of it.
